prelim results are coming back. most people did pretty well, but always, always never as well as they would like (what would they like though?).

and it's always due to lack of sleep, over slacking, and other minute reasons, but never, never due to a lack of ability.

i don't mean that (too) scathingly though. it's hard not to be guilty of that. even i... ^__^

btw, i don't like it when people are insensitive after getting back their results. like when you're utterly miserable and they grab you and gush about how they've been rewarded by their mugging, or when they get so much higher and rant on and on about how you got (slightly) higher for mcqs.

it isn't nice at all.

That's a sentiment that i can really identify with. When one makes an argument, it's nice to use words like 'perhaps' or 'if' so that one doesn't fully commit oneself to a certain claim, and thus can readily change it or give it up for something better. Because of this, one does not have to care about the results of one's thoughts (i.e. the truth behind these thoughts) for a while, and thus can freely pursue them.

Btw, when i claim that "most people practise A", i hate it when people say, "that's wrong because there are some people who do not practise A!"

I'm down in the dumps. And it stinks.

It doesn't help that most people are making things worse by acting as if A levels are a matter of life and death. Now i can't shake off the feeling that it is really a matter of life and death, and that i've got one foot planted firmly in the grave.

And, to quote an author i don't really like, the other foot on a banana peel (it's actually watermelon rind, but i like banana peel better).

I think i just suck in everything (especially academics). And it's killing me.

Anyway, here's something that i've always wanted to say:

Recently, there seems to be a really disturbing trend in NJC. When njcians read something humorous, they tend to go 'so-and-so character is so stupid' or 'what a stupid piece of work'. This is really irritating. What they should have commented on, in my opinion, is the brilliance, rather than 'stupidity' of the piece of work. After all, the piece of work is incongruous so as to bring out the humour effect. And incongruous (unexpected) stuff is (by definition) hard to think of, which is why humorous people are brilliant people.

I wonder if this is an indication of njcians' need to think of themselves as superior =/

Of course, this doesn't apply to all njcians. Some of them (i.e. the Litwingers!) do have a good sense of humour. Thank God for them. They're the ones keeping me sane.

Can't seem to focus on my studies =/

By the way, people who wear hooded jackets don't usually wear the hood. Although we claim that the function of the hood is to cover our heads, the hood is actually prized for how it looks when it's down, rather than when it's up.

Just a random thought.
