Told some of my schoolmates-to-be that some of my friends think that engineering is a cheapened form of science. Mostly i get the response that i should always 'do the things' i'm 'passionate about and not care what others say'.
Actually, I agree with my friends fifty percent. Engineering stands for pragmatism; it is about getting
physical products to improve the quality of human life
physically. Science, on the other hand, is more idealistic; it is the quest for truth about the world.
The other fifty percent of me says, 'What's wrong? We have to keep alive before we can find out the truth.'
My real dream is to be a philosophy professor. Or an artist/writer. Or an art/literary critic. But, like I told some people, girls like me are so cynical that we're pragmatic. We don't see a point in fighting the system too much. It'll grind us down anyway =p
P.S. Now that i think about it, should have explained the whole engineering vs science thing properly. Shouldn't have left people thinking that my friends are idiots. =(
